The Platinum Pooch LLC is a boutique dog grooming salon in Verona, PA, owned and operated by Donna M. Walko. With over 50 years of hands-on experience, Donna is a Certified Veterinary Technician, a National Dog Groomers Association certified groomer, and she is certified by the Professional Cat Groomers Association.
She holds additional certifications in geriatric pet handling, behavioral grooming, skin assessment, and special needs dog handling.
This isn't a high-volume grooming factory. Every appointment is individual. Every pet gets personalized attention in a safe, quiet, clean, spa-like setting. Donna and her team continually attend industry conferences and seminars to stay current, because your dog's health and comfort are always the priority.

Do you groom cats as well as dogs?
Yes! Donna is certified by the Professional Cat Groomers Association of America and has been a member since 2010. Cat grooming requires a completely different skill set than dog grooming, and not every salon is equipped to do it well. Your feline is in experienced hands.
My dog is elderly and has a hard time standing for long periods. Can you still groom them?
Absolutely. Donna holds a specialized certification in geriatric pet handling and has decades of experience working with senior dogs. We take our time, work around your dog's limitations, and make sure the experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
My dog has been turned away or had bad experiences at other groomers. Can you help?
This is one of the things we do best. Donna is a certified behavioral groomer with over 50 years of experience working with challenged animals. We work at your dog's pace in a quiet, calm, one-on-one environment. No crates full of barking dogs, no assembly line. Just patient, skilled, individualized care.
How much do your services cost?
Pricing depends on your pet's breed, coat condition, size, and the services you need. We keep our rates reasonable and we never charge a one-size-fits-all price. Give us a call and we'll put together a quote that makes sense for your specific dog.
Do you take walk-ins or is it appointment only?
We are appointment only. This is intentional. Every pet at The Platinum Pooch receives individual attention, which means we don't double-book or rush anyone through. Call us to schedule and we'll find a time that works for you.
What if I can't make it during regular business hours?
We offer before and after-hour appointments by request. Just let us know your situation when you call and we'll do our best to accommodate you.
What credentials and certifications does The Platinum Pooch have?
Donna holds an extensive list of professional credentials that set The Platinum Pooch apart from the average grooming salon.
She is a Certified Veterinary Technician, an AALAS Lab Technician (Tech III), and holds certifications from the National Dog Groomers Association and the Professional Cat Groomers Association of America, where she has been a member since 2010.
She is also certified in CPR and Pet Safety, Geriatric Pet Handling, Behavioral Grooming, Skin Assessment, and Handling Special Needs Dogs (Barkleigh Productions, 2021).
Donna is a member of the International Professional Groomers, Inc., an award-winning competitive groomer, and has been featured in Groomer magazine at Groom Expo.
